EPIC is an open-source Perl IDE for the Eclipse platform. Features supported are syntax highlighting, on the fly syntax check, content assist, perldoc support, source formatter, templating support and a Perl debugger. A regular expression plugin and support for the eSpell spellchecker are also available.

Getting started

This plugin has currently does not have "Getting Started" documentation. If you are familiar with this plugin; would you be willing to draft some Getting Started documentation and post it on the forum? We will gladly add it.

Requirements and limitations

• This plugin will run with any distribution of EasyEclipse.


• It may also work with a standard installation of Eclipse 3.1.2. We have not tested it, though.


• To use this plugin, you need this additional software:
  • XAMPP: Recommended Apache, PHP, Perl and MySQL distribution and installer


• This plugin is present in the following distributions:
